good_logo.png The Ashgrove Cricket Club plays in the Queensland Sub Districts Cricket Association in Brisbane, Australia. The club was formed in 1915 and, apart from a small period around the Second World War, has continued to field a team to this day. The club has a long and a illustrious history, and is always looking for new players to continue this tradition.

The Queensland Sub-District Cricket Association features regionally-based teams from throughout South-East Queensland. It supplements the Brisbane Grade Cricket competition and plays on Saturdays and - where necessary - Sundays during the summer season. All matches are played on turf pitches. The season commences mid-to-late September, running for 11 rounds with semi-finals and a final - usually late March. Each round is split over two Saturdays, playing four innings. For most of the season, play commences at 1:00pm and concludes at 6:00pm each Saturday.

In recent seasons, the Ashgrove Cricket Club have fielded four teams spread across A Grade, B Grade and C Grade. Players are graded according to ability at our training days at the beginning of the season. Ashgrove has two home grounds - at the Gap State High School cricket oval and Enoggera Memorial Park (Mott Street). Players can expect to play roughly half of their games at these grounds per season.

Player fees are decided at each year's Annual General Meeting. For season 2009/10, all players are required to pay a season playing fee of $150. Players are then required to pay a fee every Saturday of usually $15. Each team has a kit of gear with equipment available for use. It is recommended players wear spikes, but must have spikes if and when bowling. Players are required to have long, predominately white trousers. The Ashgrove Cricket Club has player's shirts with our logo embroided on the front. These can be purchased at the beginning of the season.

The Ashgrove Cricket Club regularly holds events for all players, including regular Drinks Nights, Annual Golf Days, and barbeques at Mott Street Oval. Training occurs mid-week at Newbery Park, Newmarket. Pre-season training is held at the Victoria Park Cricket Nets, Gilchrist St, Herston.

ashgrovegolf.gifThe Ashgrove Cricket Club has a relationship with the Ashgrove Golf Club whereby all new members to the Cricket Club are signed up at Social Members to the Golf Club. This includes a range of benefits, including a percentage off greens fees. Players are presented with a membership card from the Golf Club upon registration as a Social Member. Our club has a range of functions at the Golf Club, and players regularly to go back to the Golf Club after play concludes on Saturdays and share a drink with team mates.

90yrs.jpgIn year 2005, the Ashgrove Cricket Club celebrated our 90th year. This included a professional photograph off all teams and players in the club, and a tribute match played at Enoggera Memorial Park. The Ashgrove Cricket Club Management Committee has enacted a Club Vision 2015, which is a Strategic Plan for the future of our club leading up to our Centenary in 2015, and beyond.

Ashgrovecricket.com.au is the primary website of the Ashgrove Cricket Club. Our website has up-to-date players' statistics, match reports, season draws, listing of merchandise, a photo album, as well as plenty of (sometimes controversial) lighter news (just don't take it too seriously!!).
